first post - lit lovin'

The smell of books is like crack to me. I'm not kidding. I smell books before I even read them because I've found that connecting the scent of well-worn pages and crisp binding to a book just completely immerses me in the story. Don't even get me started on the scent of pencil shavings. As an avid writer and doodling addict, I can truthfully say that I have over 60 or so notebooks, diaries and sketchbooks, full cover to cover, that I've accumulated over the years.

Hi, my name is GlamingoGirl -- "Hi, GlamingoGirl," -- and I am addicted to Literature.

I printed out a history of all the books I've checked out from our school library just in my two years of high school so far. It was 5 pages long. Guess how many books? 102. And that's not even counting the ones I read over the summer (probably a good 40 or so more). I can read a 400+ page novel in less than a day. Sometimes it scares even me.

My friend and I  have decided that we are going to try to read the entire school library's fiction section by the end of senior year. I'm starting at A, she's starting at Z (by author). We officially started last week, and I'm on the 7th "A" book now.

So it's no wonder that my Lit/Comp teacher wants me to start a blog, right? Because it's THE THING TO DO, guys! Apparently. So here we go! Now I can share my intense nerdiness and insanity with all of human-kind. Or at least those of us who spend all day hunched over the computer... Anyway! I'll be doing reviews of all the books I read in the process of my A-Z mission so I have proof that I'm actually reading the books, and they'll be under "Book Reviews". There's also an explanation of the term "glamingo" under "What is a Glamingo?" (duh).
