PROMPT: Which is mightier, the ocean or a mountain?

Sweet, dainty ripples that lap at your feet. Giant, enraged waves that wipe out cities at a time. The ocean is our queen. She is kind and gentle, but she punishes with a firm hand. She is bewitchingly beautiful, but deep with treasures unseen and secrets unspoken. Our oceans have seen people lost and wonders found; they have witnessed the rise and fall of every civilization and have given birth to the most baffling of scientific mysteries.

The ocean is not only mightier than a mountain. It is a symbol of might itself. The ocean is home to immense mountain ranges; its size and power has destroyed the highest peaks and built up the lowest foothills. The mountains are mighty, yes. But without our queen the sea, they would have no might. The ocean gathers the land to her bosom and streams through it. We are merely servants to her watery throne.

Life blooms through our mysterious majesty's secretive crevices. We can barely guess at the glory of all that she has held in her depths. Her anger is destructive, but her kindness is healing. Have you ever strolled along the beach and listened to the sea crash and roll for miles beyond you? Our mighty ocean queen was singing her joyful, mournful, wise song to you as she lulled the world to sleep.
